Why & How

Mind Your Work serves as a workplace wellness consultation and mental health specialist entity. The goal of this program is to assess weaknesses and strengths of your workplace and design individualized training sessions in order to increase employee productivity.

Why Mind Your Work matters?

Because work related stress, lack of productivity at work and burn outs are costing us not just money but also our health, life and existence.

Here are some stat that help realize the scope of the problem.

  • The American Psychological Association estimates that more than $500 billion is siphoned off from the U.S. economy because of workplace stress.
  • 550 million workdays are lost each year due to stress on the job.
  • 60-80% of workplace accidents are attributed to stress.
  • It’s estimated that more than 80% of doctor visits are due to stress.
  • Workplace stress has been linked to health problems ranging from metabolic syndrome to cardiovascular disease and mortality.
  • In a large-scale study of over 3,000 employees conducted by Anna Nyberg at the Karolinska Institute, results showed a strong link between leadership behavior and heart disease in employees.
  • Research shows that workplace stress leads to an increase of almost 50% in voluntary turnover.

How do workplace well-being workshops help this situation?

  • The costs for providing reasonable mental health-related accommodations are often fairly low, with most costs well under $500 per person per year.
  • If individuals with mental distress are able to receive treatment early, disability leave which costs companies $18,000 on average per leave, may be avoided.
  • A recent study by economists at the University of Warwick found that happiness led to a 12% spike in productivity, while unhappy workers proved 10% less productive.
  • Companies that invest in employee support and satisfaction tend to succeed in generating happier workers. At Google, employee satisfaction rose 37% as a result of employee mental health initiatives.

Beside cost efficiency and better health, support is what most employee want.

A Gallup poll showed that even when workplaces offered benefits such as flextime and work-from-home opportunities, engagement predicted well-being above and beyond anything else. Employees prefer workplace well-being to material benefits.
